Artist Statement
My work explores the relationship between natural landscapes, places we call home, ourselves, and the people we interact with. Through digital and analog photographic processes as well as archival research, I investigate themes surrounding identity, self, institutions, and the environment. I am passionate about visual storytelling, collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds, and understanding how art history movements and material histories inform contemporary art-making processes. My photographic process is driven by a desire to let the viewer experience the feeling I have when making a photograph. I have recently found that working with analog methods, whether it is processing and developing film by hand or creating silver gelatin prints in the darkroom, enables me to explore complicated questions that stem from the act of making.
